ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) is the premier space agency of India which is responsible for conducting space research, development of satellites, and implementation of space technology for the development of the country. The list of ISRO chairmen since its inception is as follows:
Vikram Sarabhai (1963-1971) - He was the founder of ISRO and is known as the father of the Indian space program.
Satish Dhawan (1971-1984) - He played a crucial role in the development of satellite technology in India.
U.R. Rao (1984-1994) - He contributed significantly to the development of India's satellite technology and led several satellite missions.
K. Kasturirangan (1994-2003) - He is credited with the successful launch of the PSLV (Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle) and INSAT-3B satellite.
G. Madhavan Nair (2003-2009) - He led the successful Chandrayaan-1 mission which discovered water on the moon.
K. Radhakrishnan (2009-2014) - He was instrumental in the successful Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) which made India the first country to enter Mars orbit on its first attempt.
A.S. Kiran Kumar (2015-2018) - He played a key role in the launch of the GSLV Mark III, India's heaviest rocket.
K. Sivan (2018-present) - He led the successful launch of India's first manned space mission, Gaganyaan, which is scheduled for 2022.
